Two things:

1) In 1.2, we're changing how our UDP traffic works. It's a big change, else we'd roll it out faster, but we think it's going to make a big difference for some people's experiences. Essentially, instead of many tiny updates, they'll be rolled up into fewer, bigger updates.

2) If you're playing on Vista, we found a network setting where you can tune off Vista's auto-tuning capability. It's made a big difference for a lot of people.

1 in thread How many hours of NPC grinding am I expected to do here? [General PotBS Discussion]
Hello all,

There's some awfully good discussion on this thread. There's also plenty of personal bickering on this thread. It would be awesome if y'all could remove the bickering and keep up the discussion based on the OP's question/concerns.

Closing down constructive threads because of too much forum pvp makes for very sad kittens.

We have a clever plan that we're about to deploy. I can't talk about any specifics because we don't want to give the spammers info, but I hope to see it go down tremendously very soon.

Wintersdark, are you on Vista? We were tracking down some mysterious problem after a power outage, and came upon a tweak to Vista's networking that has dramatically helped quite a few people for lag.

Hey folks,

We don't want this thread to go to bad places. It's for feedback on the Devlog, not a venue for forum PVP. Please feel free to discuss and even debate the changes, but let's get back on-topic so Taelorn can answer your questions or concerns.

Thanks!

The fix for the Arcadia decks was made back in late November. It was an art change that was done in the working branch at the time, which meant it was months away from deployment.

No. I do not like making ship variants until the ship has been in the game awhile. Once it's had time to settle, then I'll determine whether it gets added to the list of upcoming variants.

I could be wrong, as I don't have specifics, I was just hoping for some clarification.
The MC Raa has 5lb on its topdeck, the MC Stralsund has 6lb on its topdeck. The Heavy Raa is not upgunned, although I have some plans for heavy ships in the future that may change things.

Simply put: what's going on with that?
We don't have the ability to retroactively add a recipe. The Trader's Bermuda was in an odd place because it fell right along the line between beta and live, and it ended up on the wrong side of that line. I don't know the exact details since it's outside of my area, but my understanding is that sets of new recipes will usually appear in new books. In some cases, they may appear in cheap books (one of the new recipes in 1.2 shows up in the Basic Consumables book).

I never mention variant ships unless there's a specific change that doesn't impact the base ships. Changes mad to the base ships trickle down to the variant ships, sometimes with small adjustments. The Discovery is based on the Raa, so it will adjust accordingly. So if I say the Cerberus is changing, that means: Cerberus, Courier Cerberus, Heavy Cerberus, Mastercraft Cerberus and Arrow.

Well, he does owe me $800. Plus, when he gives guys his "picture" to prove he's a real chick, he's emailed people photos of me. So yeah. Very uncool.
