For those of you reporting rollbacks, what server?

On Blackbeard, after further review the PdP port battle didn't happen correctly, so we're going to restage it.

Turns out Port de Paix flipped before the server shutdown, so we're going to leave it in Pirate hands.

The GMs made a couple of announcements on each cluster, starting 15 minutes before shutdown. We didn't have much notice on our side, and you all were notified as soon as we made the decision.

We're still looking into the port battle issue.

The clusters are on their way back up.

On Blackbeard, which port was in contention ready for the battle, and by whom?

We're running into load related issues on Roberts and Blackbeard that will require a restart of the server in about five minutes. We apologize for the interruption. Those servers are locked until the reboot.

1 in thread Server Lists Missing [Important Announcements]
Devco thinks they found a fix for it, and we're testing it internally. the TCP fall back is to be expected, and you can ignore the ports error safely. What's happening is that the server directory is too busy to process enough requests for the server list, so the queue backs up. The client times out it's requests and decides that UDP has issues, so it falls back to TCP. Eventually your client's request hits the front of the request queue and you get your server list.

So, in summary:
- Don't restart the client
- Ignore the message about opening ports, etc
- Be patient, your list will show up!

DevCo hopes to get me a working build today that will fix this.

Parallels (my virtualization software of choice) doesn't yet support a lot of video card stuff required to run most games, and as of 3.0 only supports DirectX 8.1. VMware Fusion supports some of DirectX 9, but I haven't had a chance to see if it runs PotBS (my MacBook is of the older "can't run our game at all" variety).

As of the bump this past November, the MacBooks and MacBook Pros should all be able to run it in Boot Camp fine, though I've only seen it played on MacBook Pros (as well as a newer iMac and a Mac Pro).

Looks like MacBooks manufactured since last November have the right stuff; before that not.
