For sail decals, the structure of the sail needs to be clearly visible. This means if you cover large areas of the sail, you need to use a lot of transparency. My suggestion: Leave the blue areas (with "A" in them) as they are. Make the white areas (upper right corner, lower left corner) with 100% transparent background.

As your decal is, it will probably get sent back because the white areas are too opaque.

Does that make sense?

There's a bad character who keeps crashing the chat server when he logs in. We'll bring the cluster down, fix the character, and then bring it back up. I'm waiting on the character ID to do this, so expect downtime again soon-ish.

We had an influx of new players today, and they overloaded our serverdir process. We have a fix for it that's coming through the build right now, but if you wait, it'll eventually populate in your client.

And has been noted before, we test the game as much as possible using stress tests, open beta, and automated load testing. But for an MMO, there's simply nothing like real world usage.

Which doesn't excuse the fact that as a paying customer, you have the right to expect things to work. And for that I'm sorry. What I can tell you is that we're working on it right now, and we'll continue working on it throughout the day until we get it resolved.

Two things are going on:

1) We had a cache process that didn't shut down cleanly on Roberts which resulted in some data not being rewritten. We're currently investigating that.

2) We had a surge of people today that overloaded our serverdir process. We have a solution for it that's buliding and should be ready for test pretty soon.

Apparently Saturday morning is a popular time!

The server list slowly coming up seems to have a variable time for people. Some people reporting a few minutes, others ten. We haven't seen a report of an hour, though, which is pretty amazing. We had rolled out a new build to dramatically improve this issue last night, but it hasn't gone through testing yet, so we won't be deploying it until we're sure it's helping.

As for the rollback question, a cache process didn't shut down cleanly on Roberts. We're investigating that now.

There are a number of issues that were working to address:

1. Several players see an empty server list when they first log in and some are told they're falling back to using TCP. This is because the process that serves up that list is overloaded. If you just wait, the list should appear in time. If you shut down the game and restart, you lose your place in the queue and cause additional load. So your best bet is to wait for the list to appear. Dev is working on this and well be testing a solution later today. When the changes will be pushed to the live servers depends on how the testing goes.


2. Our website is slow for many people and times out. The site is up (which you know if you're reading this); its just experiencing heavy load as players are searching for clues about problems accessing the game. Were working to address this and hope to have a solution later today.
