I'm pretty sure that the way we kick you from the game in situations like this actually kicks you - doesn't follow any of the rules of "you can't leave if you're in combat" and such. So your ships that were in combat should be fine although you'll be back in town when you log back in again.

Sadly, I have 0 info on a time estimate for this. Pulling craziness out of the air, I'm guessing more than 1 hour. Guessing. Could be much more. No clue. Soon as I have a clue, though, I'll post it.

We're experiencing issues with the lastest patch and have locked the servers while we look into the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience. We hope to have the issue resolved quickly. More info when we have it.

For specific port battles, it's something we're excited about doing because a) the idea is cool and b) it's not a big deal to implement. For shallow waters outside of ports, the implementation is much harder, so we need to create a workable design, and prioritize with other work items.

Actually, I personally think that smaller ship battles are the most interesting, and like to encourage them.

I'll be pushing for it in 1.4. It fits thematically with our milestone of pirate love theme. :-)

We like to encourage balanced fights. But we can't force it on players, or it's not open PvP. It's a contradiction in terms.

Random suggestion: what if we were able to have wagers in the player skirmish where you could win/lose stuff. Would that make it more appealing?

It's not restricted to one-on-one. You can set up unequal fights if you want (though obviously that won't be popular with the commentators on this thread), and we also intend to be able to break the 6 on 6 group limit and create much larger confrontations. The nice thing about the system is that it's optional, so we don't have to restrict ourselves to what would work on lower denomination systems.

It's a bug. The duration was stacked. It's fixed and waiting for the builds to cycle to testbed/live.
