We’re not going to try to force port battles to happen at a specific time. Especially now that we’ve concentrated our population on a smaller number of servers, every server is potentially a ‘global’ server with people in many different time zones participating in the conquest of ports.

We’ve talked in the past about potentially setting up regularly scheduled battle times – say, on pre-determined 6-hour intervals. However, there are lots of potential pitfalls in that idea, and we’re not entirely happy with it.

The changes to the way economic activity generates unrest in 1.4 will probably have some impact on this problem. It remains to be seen how much of an impact it has. So we’ll take another look at the issue once 1.4 is live and we can get feedback on the new system.

We know that there's an issue when we reschedule the port battle. However, I don't have any reason to believe that was the issue here. Stygiana, would that address what you're aware of? If not, can you elaborate?

Hey gang,

Debate this topic if you wish. I know y'all have been trying to discuss and debate it for a good amount of time. Let's just leave all the personal attacks and snarky comments towards each other out of it so it can continue?

/puts back on topic

Thanks for all of the feedback. So.. here's what I'm trying in 1.4:

-Lots of new lines on the auctioneer, said a LOT less frequently. His voice doesn't extend that far, so if you don't want to hear him, you might be able to back up and at the very least get a lot less of him.

-The background walla in the shops has been set to not loop. The files are pretty long in general (2+mins), so although some of you might miss the audio for a short amount of time, those of you that spend hours in the auction house won't have to listen to it repeat. I'm not sold on this change, but I figured I'd try it out and see what you all end up saying.

I have new audio for the Harbor Master, but I've been too swamped with new content to have time to splice it up and put it in game. It'll be in eventually.

As always, thanks for listening.

Our environment team is also going to look at that bit to see if there are ways we can simplify it. You're right about the 3D spaces being hard to navigate on the 2D map.
