We are actively working on an issue where the server list takes a super long time to load. Wait for a few minutes and it should show up.

We’re always looking for PotBS players who live in the Seattle metropolitan area to test some exciting new game content.

If you’re chosen to participate, you’ll get a chance to see new stuff before anybody else and give us valuable feedback to make it better. If you enjoy playtesting, you may be invited back for future tests.

@omarshall: Please file an "Unable to login" support request (the 'Support' link in the top right of this page). GMs can help. Include your latest PotBS log from My Document\Pirates of the Burning Sea\log.

@danman429: Try running in windowed mode. Delete My Documents\Pirates of the Burning Sea\prefs.xml to reset your prefs and the game will ask you again whether to run full screen or windowed.

There are a number of redundant threads going on about several RP story arc missions and the same questions are coming up over and over again (Which is a great way to see what things need to be fixed, so go team!). Let me address them all in this thread to make it a little easier for new players to get their questions answered.

1. The Winning Bid

If the person you need to turn this quest into gets killed in another quest, you can't turn it in. You can simply cancel it. The only thing you'll miss out on is a little bit of gold, xp, and some back story.

2. Just in Time

This is currently way too hard for its level. I've nerfed the xebecs, but I can't tell you exactly when this will show up in a patch. In the meantime, I recommend the strategy of ignoring the escorts and going straight for a boarding action with the target ship.

Also, any one of the corsairs you meet in Just in Time could potentially become a love interest. Be careful what dialog options you choose.

3. Polacre Refit Quest

This has been fixed and will appear in an upcoming patch. A capture deed will not work for this quest (And please, guys. Let's not have this thread turn into a discussion of "Why not?")

4. Plot Tryst

Currently, the "lover's handkerchief" item is not rewarded at the end of this quest. I've put in the fix and that should also appear in an upcoming patch. For those of you who have already done this quest, we're working on a way to get the item to you.

The "Cut and Paste Comment" bandits drive us crazy too. It is one thing to be excited about your submission enough to tell others about it, it is another to scatter-shot 5 point ratings in the hopes that someone will reciprocate.

At that point it isn't about the artistic merit of the design. Spam enough people, get some votes.

I personally feel like it degrades the entire experience. The question is, what do we do about it? We've bounced around ideas for alternative methods for voting on flags and sails- the idea of creating a system that preserves the purpose behind a peer review process is certainly picking up steam.

In the meantime, I personally have a difficult time devising punishments for people who are simply shilling for votes on their designs. While we can certainly drop the hammer of justice on messages that include offensive language or imagery, anything less than that demonstrates more of a flaw in our system than a need for discipline.

I'm interested in hearing what you folks think though, all ideas are welcome.

The problems with the support site not working for some people is being worked on.

In the mean time if you are unable to patch you should try the following:

1) Open task manager and see if potbs.exe is running. If it is, stop the process and try to patch again
2) Reboot the machine and try to patch
3) If you are still having problems you can attach your launchpad.log to "C:\Program Files\Sony\Station\LaunchPad".

The not being able to log into support is a seperate issue that we're working on getting fixed.
