It's possible, especially if a FT in a society just told all his pals "zomg a great price on X". A few of them could have been in port with the guy and just handed over a bunch of doubloons so he could buy them all up for whatever purpose (use for the society, relist to make more money for the society....et al)

You could have a society leader and his RL pals (friends & family) all give him their money as the "banker". (My RL pals and I used this strategy in another game as I was the crafter)

You should type /support and then put in a request for a GM to come unstick you.

Unfortunately, it's been far too long since I've been able to work on a wooden ship model (cats + small apartments + lack of dedicated workshop = stuck with virtual modelling), so I can't personally offer any concrete advice on this.
