Sorry I was hung up on the OPs crashes. You should post a dxdiag. There are not many rigs I know of that can run two clients on the same machine and not have poor performance. The client is, by design, going to hog up a lot of memory and at other times release memory that is no longer needed. The 5-6 minute loading times are a bit high. For this you can turn on detail logging for rooms by creating pirates_local.ini in you client folder and adding:

[Logger]
room=detail


After you have some logs saved where zoning takes a long time you should remove the room=detail option as it will create very large log files over time.

Your comments are based on incomplete knowledge of the changes. Pirates gained in areas not listed here. Run Them Down still debuffs OS speed, canceling out Convoy. Other skills in the lines you complain about changed. See what you think when you can see all the changes together.

Not necessarily, but it means "Not in 1.2, maybe 1.3, maybe later."

We have a ton of small things like this, something that only requires a day or two of development time, but we have enough of them to fill a couple of man-years of work. So we have to try and prioritize. I think this is important, but I think it's less important than, say, getting an adequate number of ships of all nations around every contestable port. We are tracking it, and as soon as we can get to it we will.

That's correct. The reload time is off on the 14lb, 15lb and 16lb guns. That's fixed in 1.2

The bow structure of Mediterranean craft tends to preclude the use of bow chasers, but I wouldn't dismiss the possibility out of hand. Since you're working freeform and not strictly from plan, we'll need some good orthographic screenies with your layout roughed in, in order to gauge how successful the idea may or may not be.

My sense from a balance standpoint is that the idea is fine, and could make a good complement to the all-lateen barque due to show up in one of the game releases. She's the lateen equivalent of the cutter. The partially square rig would suggest some tradeoffs between sailing performance and firepower. (Of course, keep in mind I'm not the tuning expert -- that's Taelorn, hands down.)
