This bug happens whenever someone from another nation says something in area chat. If you have the Diplomacy skill you get one funny underscore thing and if you don't you get another funny underscore thing. They're both fixed in tonight's hotfix:

Is this a message you're getting on the server list, or does it happen once you're inside the game? If it's on the server list we did make a change here. The list used to come on port 5051, but now comes down from port 7009. We pushed it up into the range that the rest of the game uses so you won't need to manage two ranges. If you had a hole open at 5051 you should change that to 7009.

I wasn't saying that in-game this ship would only be fitted with 12 guns -- just that that's probably closer to the historic reality. Note that I wasn't completely sure about the forward ports, too.

We can probably fit guns behind them even if there isn't room -- no one's going to be able to see how crowded things are there. But you will want to double check the clearance on the 2nd pair of ports and ensure your guns don't recoil into anything, as those guns would be visible.

Similarly, for the captain's cabin, we can and probably will ignore the fact that even though guns might fit there, it would be rather challenging to get them in place in a real ship If there's a hatch on that deck, that makes the fiction of a gunhappy captain sharing his berth with a 6-pounder all the more believable.

The two middle ports right by the main deck would be problematic, though. The cabin roof would very obviously interfere with the operation of guns there. And more 16-20 gun ships are still useful for the game

As you can see here, there are some issues we're fixing in a hotfix tonight:

We're going to wait and push tonight's build out to AU as the first 1.2 build. I'm still trying to work out exactly when with Telstra, but it won't until early morning Thursday, Australia time at the earliest. That downtime announcement only applies to the US/EU servers. The AU servers will be a bit later.

I'm looking forward to you getting 1.2 too!

Exactly! You shouldn't have to be a PVP'er to be a Pirate.

Random thoughts:
The goal of our PvP system was that people who wanted it knew where to go to get it, and people whoe didn't want it knew where not to go. What we didn't do a very good job of was incenting people to go to it (we're working on more rewards for 1.3 and 1.4) and we didn't do a good job of warning you when it was coming. A lot of our Design meeting today revolved around this issue, and we've got some really great improvements coming in these areas.
