Hey, folks -- lots of great ideas! I particularly like the killboard idea. Not the most USEFUL bit of data, but it's sure a bit of data that's full of AWESOME. Keep 'em coming.

We're taking in everything and working on a roadmap for exposing as much data as is reasonable in the coming months, the first chunk of which we'll be announcing (and rolling out) early next week.

Well, your kind words are certainly appreciated. There are certainly a lot of things we hope to improve on, and player feedback is an important part of the process that allows that to happen.

So don't stop sharing your concerns and asking those questions! We're looking forward to improving your Pirates of the Burning Sea experience - to include reducing those patch day bumps and bruises.

I don't want to do this, because one of my goals is to give everyone a chance to be the hero of the day -- to get to be on the varsity team for once. However, I agree that a well-organized group should be able to get into port battles as a group, and that organization makes large-scale battles more fun. Ultimately, I believe we're going to switch some portion of the port battles over to a 'pre-made' system. Actually, when I first designed the system, this is how it was supposed to work. So I'll say two things: one, the 'economy bomb' concept is going away; I'm replacing that system in 1.3 with a new mechanic for using the economy to create unrest. So I'd like to take economy-bombing off the table as a point of discussion. Two, I'm currently considering what the effects would be of moving the system over to the original design conception, in which unrest doesn't count for personal contention points -- only contention earned after the port is Open PvP.

So if you have thoughts on the latter (and by 'you' I mean 'you the whole community'), let me know. Would that work better for you? Would you hate it? Would you find my address and come to my house to beat up my poor cats if I did that?

That seems low, we want to make it so that you can't accidentally use a repair skill at full sails, but 85% seems low, we'll look into it.

That's a bug, it should not work that way. Everyone in the group, within a reasonable range, should be able to roll.

And with things like player governed ports mentioned... I have to think that those numbers will continue the creep, and players (most of them, anyway) will only get happier as time passes.
That'd be good, and what a lot of people (clearly not on this board! :-) ) tell us, but there are other numbers to be measured that can affect the game. We had a loooong discussion about this in another thread that I don't want to repeat here, but the basic upshot is that concurrency goes down from the launch of a game until people find their equilibrium. Our intial estimates at what "good" concurrency was turned out to be incorrect, so it's an issue we're working on, because concurrency is critical for a game with as many inter-related systems as ours has.

Well, you're right about that. I wish I could hear a buzzing sound everytime I do something stupid, though I'd probably go death from it all.
