There are many ideas that have been proposed for more balanced os pvp. One was the shallow waters idea. Areas of the map only accessible to low level ships that could provide ways for new, low level players to be introduced to pvp without being ganked by level 50's.

Have you seen this idea and have you given it any thought. It seems to be a way to accomplish level based pvp that doesn't interfere with the overall design goals, if it is implemented correctly.
I haven't seen it. The forums are often busier than I can keep up with. Can you point me to it? Has Drew seen it?

Having been on the other side of the fence, I understand where you're coming from, but "look ok" doesn't mean that it's an idea that will work. There are tons of ideas that seem reasonable that don't survive contact with actually having to spec it out, much less how it works in practice.

Some of them, however, are pretty cool. We've taken to using In Concept as a place to copy posts that have good ideas we don't want to lose track of. And for what it's worth, we have a meeting every week to go over feedback from the game and from the forums, and see what lessons we can learn. That doesn't mean that we agree with what you say, but we do try to consider it.

Did you miss the dev logs on the skirmish system? The point of it is to provide balanced PvP opportunities (well, and big Society on Society combats).

I'm seeing 10 points for level 50 kills, so we're not sure what's happening with the 6 point issue yet. Any additional information on what you're killing, what state the port is, etc would be useful.

Aside from that, we're looking at the personal contention point issue and the total quantity of contention points should be up significantly in tonight's build.

I'm surprised that people wouldn't have other missions to do while the port is in PvP. Do you think it's more of an issue that needs a system, or an issue of education?

As an MMO player I've always loved patch days. So many new toys! To me, it's well worth the risk of a horrible bug to get to play with all the new shiny stuff. Usually the new bugs are funny too.

As an MMO developer they're pretty terrifying. Even the smallest bug fix can cause a horrible bug (like this one, which was caused by a minor bug fix.) We didn't find it on testbed because most of the characters on testbed aren't running out of slots so nobody needed to scuttle anything.

Either way, patch day is always exciting.
