Our plan is to pay insurance by default in PvE. There may be places where insurance doesn't pay out (or pays less) but we're not sure exactly what those are yet. Because losing a ship in PvE is rare relative to losing one in PvP it won't make much difference in the grand scheme of things.

We're also just going to pay the insurance when you scuttle. Otherwise we're just making you go get some NPC to sink you. That's annoying and doesn't add anything to the game.

Definitely. All the crafted ships will be covered. It's just the stolen and free (fallback) ships that aren't covered.

We thought about adding a "buy insurance" option, but the fact is that you almost ALWAYS want insurance. Putting in an extra button you have to remember to click doesn't really add anything interesting to the game and means you'll still have the ability lose a bunch of money when you forget to click the button.

There are a few bugs here that are fixed and one or two that are close to getting fixed. We've also been talking about more significant ways to improve the AdHoc joining mechanics, but we can't provide any details yet.

We want to open up AdHocs to multiple sides, especially for ducking into a PvE encounter for protection, but that's not a quick change.

Shallows are still under discussion as part of a more general conversation about Open Sea PvP. Pirate Pillaging is in for 1.5, I expect it'll show up on the dev log list.

Because the crafting is the fun part for quite a few people. This way the merchants get to build and sell more stuff and the fighters get to fight more with less grinding.

Pillaging! I forgot to talk about pillaging!

The first two towns full of pillaging are in 1.5. It's not clear yet if town #3 will make it in time.

Shallows turn out to be much more work than we expected. We are pushing it out to make room for many other improvements. It's hard to say when they will make it in, but it won't be in the next few patches.
