@DomGod: I bet if you look in your latest PotBS log in My Documents\Pirates of the Burning Sea\log it will say something like "Wrong pixel shader version (1.1<2.0)". Such a message indicates for certain that your video card is not sufficient to run the game.

More than one staff member plays on Rackham and sails for France, ya know. Or at least nominally.
