Right now if someone takes off in the xebec the people in the Postillions end up having to sort through various sea battles to find the correct one... and often we end up having to shoot up a flare... which leads to its own problems. An icon for the group would make this much easier.
Funny enough, one of the designers just asked me to add a solution to this on to our list of features. Whee!

The Caribbean is the size it is... but you can look forward to more unique towns in the future.

I doubt you have the code to do that handy, so the other option would be to have a waypoints system that you can toggle. Basically, just any kind of map tool for group positioning and coordination would be great. Kind of like a Pictochat overlay on top of the map that a player can toggle on and off. Look at Guild Wars for some inspiration. It really would only be fitting for a naval combat/tactics game to have some way to do this.

ALSO! HUUUUUUGE issue! We need a way to see the map for port battles in the Ready Room. We have 15 minutes to stand around there chatting, but most of the time we have no clue what we're getting into. It's even more important here that we be able to create waypoints and draw routes on an interactive map that our groups can see. And furthermore, we have no idea which way those three doors lead!
ALSO Miniatures if you ever do implement such a system, the Ready Room! How can you have a port battle without little toy ship miniatures on the map table?!?!?
Nothing's impossible... but some things are futher off in the future than others. Interactive group maps would be awesome, but I can't say how immediately feasible it is.

As for the ready room, I'll check in with DesignCo to see if it fits with their vision of port battles.

Is there going to be a walk toggle available for being in port out of AVCOM? I really hate running everywhere, and holding down the shift key to walk can get tiresome.

You guys really love the pistol whipping!
/salute is in there. Are you looking for a different version? Someone mentioned a /navalsalute here before.

It's most useful at max level.

Now I feel a little bit cheated as well. I read through nearly all of this thread and I can't for the life of me figure out what you folks are bickering about.

So I'm going to put this conversation on ice, and encourage people to spend more time playing the game and less time poking each other with nearly-sharp sticks.

Best,

3. Movable windows such as inventory windows and economy windows to make the UI easier to use.
4. Easy one button transfer of goods between ships.
5. Dueling (ok, maybe this isn't so easy, but it's still a great idea.)
6. Make furled sails match the color of the unfurled ones. It's terrible to see your blood red sails suddenly turn white as soon they are rolled up.
7. Allow a ship to ship trading system.
8. Allow for two or more visible quickbars at once. Once you get to around Rank 20 it becomes necessary to use more than and trying to switch between them with the tiny little buttons can be a real pain in the heat of combat.
9. Allow for the option to turn of other ships in the local map. This would make it much easier to target other ports at open sea to get your heading.
10. Add some more documentation on the game system and how everything works. I have already read on a few gaming sites how steep the learning curve is. Perhaps a better in game manual or something on the website would help the game to be more successful in the long run. It would also clear up nation chat for more useful discussions. (On this topic, perhaps a "Help" channel would be a good thing to add as well.)

Look in your prefs. There's a box to make your UI moveable and add additional bars.

It's just a delivery mission, which is only offered when you have the prisoner in your inventory.
