We have talked about it... what we'd probably do is split the UI into two categories and let you lock them individually. So menus, etc would be one set and controls (like the hotbar) would be another.

So basically, I have no idea when we'll get to this, but we want to do it too.

Please file a support ticket so the web team can take a look to see where the disconnect is.

What I'm clearly failing to communicate is that just because an SOL is faster in the long run, does not allow it to pick it's fights. Frigates are maneuverable and have high acceleration.

You cannot have the ship with good maneuver and high acceleration also be the fastest ship. If you did, it could outrun anything.

You can't have the ship with the big guns have good maneuver or high acceleration. If you did it would be far too dangerous at close range.

Simply being fast does not allow you to pick your fights, when your opponent can out turn and out accelerate you.

Being able to pick your fights is far too powerful an ability for anyone to have with certainty. We don't want anyone, sailing any ship, to be able to run away from every fight. High end warships have to be able to run down smaller ships in the long haul, just as smaller ships have to be able to out maneuver large ships, and out accelerate (and thus out run them) in the short run.

Is it possible that the Mordaunt specifically is too fast? Certainly, that's possible. We know that several frigates are too slow right now. We are not going to move to a situation where SOLs cannot catch a frigate. It should be hard for them to catch a frigate, it should be a challenge, but it must be possible.

This is not driven by 1v1 PvP, but group PvP. Yes, we expect SOLs to be escorted, but why would you ever sail an SOL if that SOL cannot hope to catch a Frigate? If a group of 6 in Frigates faces a group of 3 SOLs and 3 Frigates, if the 6 Frigates can completely dictate the terms of engagement they're going to win. We fully expect a solo SOL to lose to a solo level 50 frigate (there may be issues with this currently because of speed problems we're fixing), but a group of 3 SOLs and 3 Frigates should be an incredibly dangerous threat to a group of 6 Frigates, not something you can just turn and run away from.

There is no doubt that right now the relative speed for Mordaunts and the high end Frigates is off. We're absolutely addressing that. But we don't intend to allow anyone to pick and choose all of their fights.

1 in thread Patch 1.2 surrender changes [Ask an FLS Developer!]
The surrender dialog will still have the option to surrender 25%, 50% or 100% of your cargo. If you choose to surrender 100% of your cargo and the enemy declines, the enemy doesn't get any loot. This gives players an incentive to accept the 100% surrender offer if they're looking for loot out of the deal. So using the new rules, the only reason a player would decline the 100% surrender offer would be to sink the ship (deducting a durability point) or capture the ship.

Ah, I understand now. I'll pass that on.

You need to find a new shorthand for "indeterminate time in the future."

How about ITITF?

Specifically for the higher lineships that are very slow to accelerate, but not for the less restricted fourth rates.

They do, but perhaps not as high as they could.
