Reading? What's that?

Not likely, but not impossible.

Tonight’s Developer Chat with WarCry was very well attended, and we got through a lot of interesting questions. We would like to thank WarCry and our community for making it a success!

In case you weren’t able to make it, a log of the chat is now available here!

As I said: I've doubled the supply, including marks that are only useful for economy players. I can't promise anyone will sell them, but it seems likely.

MIGHT AS WELL TAKE THE UNREST BUNDLES OFF THE GAME IF THIS IS GOING TO BE THE CASE. I LOT OF OTHER PLAYERS ARGREE WITH ME TOO ON THIS POINT. PLEASE KEEP THE MOV ATTACHED TO THE UNREST BUNDLES.

Just because we haven't said anything in public about this problem doesn't mean we're ignoring it. Unsurprisingly, I can't solve underpopulated servers with PvP rewards, which is why they don't make an appearance in this devlog. This doesn't mean we aren't working on that, as well.

Where did they say the MoV reward was being removed from unrest bundles? If so, MoVs were the only incentive to use unrest bundles, so will you be removing unrest bundles altogether?
We are revising the entire economic unrest system; it won't be based on the mission system at all anymore. This revision was pushed out by one week by other critical code work, so it slipped into 1.4. Otherwise you'd already have my devlog explaining it. You'll get that in the next couple of weeks, as we start talking about the 1.4 feature set.

I just doubled the supply of marks, as well as split trade marks from pvp marks. So the price of them will fall. Also, the value you're seeing for MoVs now is because they're available via unrest bundle, which pegs their price to the production cost of the bundle.

Oh NM you are going to have them be able to buy the same thing a guy works on making when he plays to being able to get it from a IN GAME MERCHANT now,, no reason to have people run lots and shops to make things anymore...
The mental image I get from this is people floating around on lineship bundles, firing cannons made of lineship bundles at each other, with ammo made of broken-up lineship bundle parts.

In other words: marks will only generate one craftable item, the lineship bundle. What you, the PvE/econ player, will get instead: almost all the recipe books that have heretofore been rare drops only, and (in 1.4) the ability to add labor and pay upkeep with marks of trade.

since the release I have seen nothing to help out the casual player,,
Well, first: 'casual' and 'PvP' aren't necessarily exclusive. In fact, a big part of what we're trying to do is make PvP accessible to casual players. Right now the penalty for losing in PvP is so huge that no casual player in his right mind even attempts it.

Second: most of the changes I'm talking about are actually changes to help PvE/econ players, to make it easier for them to get rewards from marks, to make PvP players more likely to spend money buying your econ goods, to make PvP players more likely to sell you their marks.

true they are the whiners and crybabies you see in the forums
As I've said before: I don't care how many times someone posts a suggestion or complaint, or how loud they are, or how much they threaten to quit and take their 500-person guild with them. All I care about is: is the suggestion good? Is the complaint valid? Everything else is just noise.

Given enough time, just about anything is possible, but this isn't on our list. There's a lot of character data and history that's connected to your nation, which presents a major technical obstacle.

1 in thread Taelorn, are pirates mathematically the fastest class? [Ask an FLS Developer!]
I don't like simplifying things so much as to answer them in a wide-reaching statement. There are too many variables. Usually, making this kind of comparison requires throwing out variables and making assumptions on which skills each career takes. It requires placing people in the same ship, when speed skills do not apply equally to all ships. That's a discussion I wouldn't mind getting involved in as a player, but as a dev my comments may get tossed around like a hammer. 1.4 makes the problem even more complex.

In general 1.4 terms, pirates options give them more consistent speed and downwind speed, while FTs have access to more burst speed that has usage requirements. Of course, things could change by the time they reach you. :P

I'd have to draw a diagram to show you what will happen when the other sinks come online. Basically, I'm anticipating dividing the money drain three ways.

Other than the lineship bundle, I'm not putting goods in as direct MoT rewards. You can get recipes and faction increases, currently; in the future, you'll also use MoTs to generate labor and pay upkeep. So I'm looking for ways to enhance economic gameplay, not replace it.
