Thanks for checking it out, Xavin! I think the tooltip issue has been fixed since the testbed build, so it shouldn't be a problem when we go live. I don't think we'll be making the all tab the default though.

1 in thread Emotes you'd like to see added.. [Community Suggestions]
We really need to get emotes keeping you in the state you are in. (/sit) I said that was coming soon but unfortunately that got moved down abit. If you have emotes that would play once you would like to see, add them here.

Please don't start ranting about not being able to sit and stay sitting. We know you want it, AnimCo wants it too.

I would like to see /pinch

Right now, the earliest the Hercules will be added to the game is 1.5.x

I'm pretty sure the deck texture is just temporarily deranged, as we'd asked for another part of the deck to be fixed

Most of the updates look good, particularly the new rope coil! I'd avoid a cannon as "deck clutter," though. A loose cannon was extremely dangerous; you'd only find guns used as armament or as ballast.

As for the rudder fittings, I can't check the file right now, but as I recall it was the pintles that needed adjustment... not the gudgeons fit onto the hull. The pintles can be made with boxes of exactly 12 triangles.

1 in thread The Bahamūt [Shipwright Discussion]
Wow, that is some great work on the stern, Xaphod! Excellent job! Although I'm not sure everyone on staff will deem the "mosaic" appropriate.

I also want to give the community an update on the direction the Bahamut may be taking!

The 3DSC recognises that Xaphod was really looking forward to making the Bahamut a pirate 4th-rate ship. It's not possible with the hull exactly as made for the Leviathan, but we've approved the following modifications that would allow the gun count to be brought up from 44 guns:

* Raising the main deck a couple feet, so a lower deck could be added whose gunports clear the wales. The stern chaser ports will need to move up as well, but the counter should stay at the same height.

* This may require raising the upper decks a foot or so.

* If these two steps are done, the final armament could be as follows:

- Lower deck, up to 8 guns at either end of the ship (e.g. six in the stern quarter and two in the bow -- with the bow guns possibly being fore chasers?)

- Main deck, up to 26 guns (two fewer than the version with 44 guns; this amounts to 13 gunports per side)

- Upper decks, up to 16 guns plus 8-12 swivels, plus two bow chasers

This would bring the total to 50 guns, the absolute max we're accepting for the game.

This has already been communicated to The Purple Fish, and we're
looking forward to seeing the Bahamūt get the teeth she deserves!

Is anything being done/looked at/talked about to make it so that lower level players stand a chance in PvP?
Shallows, which I'd hoped to get in for 1.4 (which work has started on) but I think they're going to wind up in 1.5.

1 in thread User Content 2.0 [Flags and Sails]
Whew! It has been a busy couple weeks and I'm sorry I haven't been able to pass along any newsworthy updates on U. C. 2.0 until now. Here is the current game plan, to the best of my knowledge:

* UC 2.0 should be in TestCo's hands within the next couple weeks.

* Once TestCo has run everything through its paces, we'll be making any needed adjustments and taking a final pass to make sure everything works as intended to the best of our ability.

* This means that UC 2.0 should be live and in your hands by the end of the month!

* Meanwhile, we are going to leave somewhere between 1,000-1,500 submissions in the queue at release. This is necessary: in order to submit new content, subscribers will need to vote on existing designs, and that's hard to do if there's nothing in voting

* After UC 2.0 is live, we will continue to monitor the queue and make additional adjustments as necessary.

I also want you to know that we do understand your frustrations and appreciate your feedback. While we aren't adding staff to deal with User Content per se, we have expanded our on-staff Task Force to make sure the system keeps running while we gear up for this transition.

In the mean time -- happy drawing, everybody!

1 in thread I give up [Flags and Sails]
I just took a quick look at your User Content, since I take a complaint like this seriously -- everyone touching User Content is supposed to be giving pertinent feedback if they send a flag or sail back for more work.

I see:

* 6 Rejected submissions
* 4 Withdrawn submissions
* 1 approved (which I just approved because it looks fine)

Oldest submitted on 11 March 2008.

All of the designs sent back to you appear to me to use 3D effects and/or gradients. I'm sorry if the 2D User Content Guidelines aren't clear on what we're looking for here; hopefully the new illustrated version of the Guidelines which is currently being finalised will help alleviate any confusion.

That said, if you have User Content which you feel was sent back to you for inappropriate reasons, I'd encourage you to use our Appeals process so the entire 2D Steering Committee can weigh in.

You're also welcome and encouraged to start a new thread for your flag and sails to get community feedback before you submit, to help ensure your work will be accepted the first time 'round. That's what this forum is for, after all
