Make sure there are no potbs.exe processes running in the task manager. You can kill them and try patching again or reboot for good measure. If that isn't the problem attach your potbspatch.log to the thread

1 in thread WARNING: Mission: Polacre Refit still broken?! [Known Issues / Troubleshooting]
For those of you who have the Polacre Refit mission from before the patch, CANCEL IT!!! The mission should have been dropped from you list automatically, but it wasn't. You need to retake the mission in order to get the reward.

For those of you who have already been screwed by this mission, contact a GM.

No there's a character/animation reason too. I think we have all waepons in the right hand for animation purposes.

1 in thread WARNING: Mission: Polacre Refit still broken?! [Known Issues / Troubleshooting]
If you have the Polacre Refit mission from before the upgrade to 1.1.54.0, you should cancel it and re-take it, otherwise the turn-in will fail.

We will be publishing a server-side fix to this tomorrow evening, but if you've run into trouble with this issue, then you are asked to file a support ticket with all the details so that we may assist you further.

We will be deploying a server-side build to fix this issue tomorrow evening, and will update the MOTD and our front page news with further information.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience as we work to remedy this issue.

I don't think we need it, and without a lot of investigation into the design implications of making everyone flagged, we could be creating a server that has a very broken rule set coming out of the gate. I'd rather focus on fixing our intended system for the near term.

The only change is perma flagging everyone in the open sea (it cannot be toggled via the port commander npc), that's it.

I am not a gaming developer but I would think that would not be that hard to pull off? Maybe just a global config switch?

1 in thread Mission: Think of the men, Captain! [Discuss: World & Missions]
OK, so after much testing and research, we figured out what was happening with this mission. I won't go into the technical details, but what it comes down to is that pirates were getting much weaker allies than the nationals. Correspondingly, the French were facing much weaker enemies than the other nations.

So, in this case, the pirates REALLY DID have it tougher than everyone else.

Needless to say, we're going to address this problem. Also, I'm going to make the timer longer so players have more time to defeat the required number of ships to deter the reinforcements from showing up. I think this will make the mission challenging but reasonable.

1 in thread Auctioneer: Turn him back on gr [Ask an FLS Developer!]
There's not a slider for the Auctioneer, there's a slider for voices in general. We don't want people to turn down the slider because of one annoying person.

That being said, I think the idea of having him only talk when you click on him is a good one. I'll pass it on. Or better yet, he have little dialog pieces that infuriatingly hint at features we're working on. :-)

Boo for screwing over the people who liked it because of people too lazy to adjust a slider in options.

Me.
