There's reliable documentation for tartanes -- basically, the merchant equivalent of the xebec -- in the Caribbean. Thus Mediterranean xebecs aren't too much of a stretch.

There isn't reliable documentation for chuan, kobukson, or similar Asian craft in the Caribbean however... especially not after 1440. Before that date, the scholarly consensus among marine archaeologists is that conclusive evidence for Asian craft reaching the Americas has not been found. Much has been made of what little inconclusive finds there are, however.

This is what's supposed to be happening, in broad terms. I actually sent out a reminder to everyone involved earlier today, so if you see a lot of "skipping" from here out please let me know personally, via PM.

Keep in mind two things though:

1) Priority is still being given to submissions with 3 or more stars, because that's where the overwhelmingly vast majority of flags and sails that actually meet the guidelines reside. Most 1-2 star submissions that I've seen are rejected for pretty basic reasons -- inappropriate colors or content, jaggies you could cut diamonds with, etc.

2) We do respond to support requests when content doesn't show up correctly in-game or there are other legitimate reasons that warrant extraordinary action (such as people whose content was lost when we changed authentication systems). These are going to appear "out of order" as well.

Well it's not the design team, it's the art team and unfortunately the long coats will clip with certain pants or boots.

At a glance looks like you've done a great job of fixing up the tops

Poor Aether looks so scared up there though...

I've posted a new appeals thread for issues such as this. If you still have a concern about a flag or sail that you had rejected, please follow the form and post there.

If you have any questions about the process before posting a request for review, please ask here. To avoid any confusion by having multiple threads open, I'll close this one now.

1 in thread Questions on new Appeals Process [Flags and Sails]
We've just posted a new User Content Appeals Process. Since there may be questions regarding it, I've opened this thread to receive them.

Please note that questions about specific appeals will be removed from this thread without comment; all appeals decisions are final and represent the best judgment of FLS and the 2D Steering Committee.

If your flag or sail has been rejected and you're unclear why, or feel there have been other recent approvals of work of similar quality and character to yours, you may now post in this thread to request your design be reconsidered by FLS. To keep this thread useful to you and the community at large, please observe the following:

1) Request review of only one submission per post. If you have multiple flags or sails you feel should be reconsidered, make a new post for each.

2) Post only your submissions.

3) Use the following post format:

Quote:
~~~ << Example Only >> ~~~
Please reconsider the following submission:
http://www.burningsea.com/pages/page...&item_id=14336
Reason provided for rejection (optional): Fine design, but it's suffering from aliasing problems. Be sure to work at twice submission size (or larger), and shrink your work down to 256 x 256 (for sails) or 128 x 85 (for flags) pixels for submission. Try posting a preview in the User Content: Flags & Sails forum (http://www.burningsea.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=17) for help. Additional suggestions may be found in the 2D Community Content Guide: http://www.burningsea.com/page/uc/2d
The following approved submissions suggest this design is appropriate (limit 2):
http://www.burningsea.com/pages/page...&item_id=13648
http://www.burningsea.com/pages/page...&item_id=13649
(Note, the "reason for rejection" is optional: you don't have to include this if you're uncomfortable posting it. Also, if there are other flags or sails you believe are similar to yours which have been approved recently -- within the last 6 months -- you may include direct links to up to two such designs. For your convenience I've posted a blank form here which you may quote, if you find it helpful.)
4) Be sure you've read the 2D User Content Guidelines, which spell out almost everything you need to know about making flags and sails for Pirates of the Burning Sea.
5) Lastly, please note that this is not a discussion thread. Replies and follow-up questions should be PM'd directly to me; other comments in this thread will be removed.
After you have posted an appeal in the above format, FLS will consult with the 2DSC regarding your request. I will respond in this thread within one week. All decisions posted here are final.
If you have questions about this process, please post them here.
Happy drawing!
