1 in thread Lug Rigged Deal Longboat [Shipwright Discussion]
Keep in mind that the jacht was the very first User Content ship made. It was literally made with no plans to add it to the game; things just worked out that way, to the delight of all On most points the packet-boat will be the better exemplar, though we were still figuring out what works best when she was completed.

A rough guide to what can be merged is if parts:

A) use the same texture file;
B) would be the same material in an actual ship;
C) function as a unit and/or are connected to the same mast or spar;

...then it's usually safe to merge.

When in doubt, leave things unmerged. Name your meshes clearly and systematically though, that will help in processing them for the game.

1 in thread New Devlog: Hello Again! [Devlogs]
Flying Lab Software's Joe Ludwig shares some crucial information about Pirates of the Burning Sea, in his latest Devlog titled: Hello Again!

The Devlog covers some important staff transition news, and gives some insight into the work that the Pirates of the Burning Sea development team is doing to prepare for our first big content patch: Build 1.2.

You can find Joe's Devlog by visiting this link.

Enjoy, won't you?

DO NOT EVER post a link to a KB article. There's a bug in the system - it's a security breach when you do. I guess I should know by now I always have to do that for you - post the link so you don't feel the need.

If someone logs a bug using your account and we respond to you, no need to tell us. Just change your Station password. (They can't access your Station account - your credit card is secure. But they can log into the support system as you.)

1 in thread Taelorn: Is the Gun Battery Damage Variable... [Ask an FLS Developer!]
That's answered in the ship part. Gun loss is based on the ship. There are no global variables for NPCs. They follow the same rules.

1 in thread Captive Audience mission - known issue? [Discuss: World & Missions]
This isn't a bug, it's a necessity due to the way our system is designed. The story line branches at this point, and I can't let you leave the instance prematurely or you might lose the thread completely.

The "Revive" button works fine, but you'll need smelling salts.

1 in thread So far.... [Shipwright Discussion]
I'm rushed for time right now but just want to note, it's not always as simple as "keep hull, change parts." Deck layout, gun layout, and mast placement all affect each other and the hull design itself. That said with careful planning you can often make substantial changes without redoing everything.

Quick example -- in your sketch don't cut the gunports out of the hull. Represent them with boxes that can be moved around. The boxes can be then used as part of a boolean operation to "punch" them out of the hull, inside and out.

Hope that makes sense... off to work for the advancement of other arts, for now!

Serverside only patch. Unfortunately we're doing some infrastructure work as well between 1am and 1.30am, which will intermittently cause our website to be unreachable.

Just want to post a quick note: Most things found on the Internet aren't public domain; they're copyright by whoever created them, and thus ineligible for User Content. I know that's the case for this and this.

If you're interested in using clipart for flags or sails, please be sure it's either public domain or released via a Creative Commons license.

If you're looking for feedback on your designs, try posting them directly to this thread (which I've renamed for that purpose) before submitting them for votes.

If you're looking for votes, post a link here after you've submitted your work.

Happy drawing!
