Nifty render, but you're really going to need to study up on actual ship construction in order to be successful here. While an original ship design is a fun idea, it needs to be very solidly based on historic practice. That's not the case here.
Your assignment: Find, borrow, or buy Wolfram zu Mondfeld's [i]Historic Ship Models[/i. This is
the single book that can help show you how to properly make channels, deadeyes, windlasses, bitts, hatches, masts, bowsprits, cabins, rails, and more. This is information you need to have in order to work on a ship model for the game; while the 3DSC can help you correct details that are off, we cannot teach you the entire art of shipbuilding.
Let us know once you've found the book and have read it cover to cover -- it's often available cheaply via Amazon, and is in many local libraries.
It looks like you've got the basic modelling talent required for PotBS ship, and I guarantee that
Historic Ship Models will get you a long way towards having the ship-savvy required to put your modelling talent to good use.
Happy reading
