Check your graphics settings. If what you're seeing doesn't make sense for the graphics settings you're using, please file a support ticket for a technical bug.

Two basic reasons:

1) On most ships with figureheads, it's integral to the ship model and textures themselves. And many of these are done by community members. The only way we could realistically achieve the goal of adding figurehead variations in this way is by getting each and every shipwright to redo their work for however many figureheads we have.

2) Even with just two figurehead variants, this quickly becomes more ship models -- and more ship recipes -- than is really healthy for the game. E.g. right now if there are two Postillions in an instance, your computer basically just needs enough resources to draw one (that's a bit oversimplified for explanatory purposes). If one of them is the "mermaid" variant and the other is the "unicorn" variant, though, now your computer needs to draw them separately. Never mind the fact that by offering two variants, you really and truly beg for having 5 or 10.

In other words, the best way to customise a ship itself is through the paint job and the sails, which you already can do.

We're already on it, basically. But we're putting the checks at submission, rather than after. Feel free to make additional comment here if you'd like.

I should remind everyone that you should NEVER share your login details. Not only is it against the TOS, but it's asking for trouble.

Having said that, it doesnt appear that login swapping was necessarily on the cards here. I am going to seek clarification on our position on lot-swapping.

I considered renaming this forum to "Ask a Developer", but I rather enjoy these linguistic discussions.

Hi there. this forum is for problems with the installer, not problems with the game itself.

I suggest you try using our Support Website. Firstly, I suggest searching the knowledgebase (This page might be useful, for example). If you can't find a solution to your problem, then use "Report an Issue" to talk to our Customer Support representatives.

That was our goal! I'm so glad you like it :-D

You'll still see local chat in your chatbox as usual, but the bubble won't appear if the person speaking isn't in the same screen space as your character.

cjw314, what's the incident number of your support ticket? It's got DXDIAG and all the other stuff requested in Answer 36, right?

BTW, to clarify the INI thing: Do Not edit pirates.ini. Feel free to create/edit pirates_local.ini. You're just wasting your time if you edit pirates.ini as that file is installed by the game and will get helpfully "upgraded" if it's detected to be different than the "current version." But putting things in pirates_local.ini overrides what's in pirates.ini and isn't overwritten by the updater ever time you launch.
