OH, I think Aether's rules are pretty clear:

No Flaming
While debate and discussion are encouraged, we will not tolerate rude or insulting posts, personal attacks or inflammatory posts of any kind.

No Trolling
Posting in a thread for the sole purpose of harassing a user or derailing / hijacking a thread topic is not allowed.

There's a lot of good "smack" talk that is player against player, guild against guild and nation vs nation. There's no profanity, there are no personal attacks. There have been epic debates which can go on and on that never involve insulting another person.

If I was to tease you about the colour of your sails as you were running away from a fight, in a good natured way, that would be acceptable.

If I came her and called you a *blankety blank* coward and told you to quit the game, that would not be acceptable.

Heck, if you responded to someone "Why do you keep making the same thread over and over about the same topic?", it would be acceptable.

If you said "You're a moron and need to leave the forums", it would not be.

I think my problem is a combination of Knowing nothing about ships, and Knowing nothing about 3D modelling. Not knowing about 3D modelling would be ok if I knew about ships... and vice versa.

At least your first pics have about 3 times as many polygons as you need You also want to get them flowing well along your hull and following the shape of the ship. See Faunalboy's thread for more explanation and plenty of examples. (A polygon is a three- or more-sided unit of geometry. It's usually best to use quads -- 4 sides, made of 2 triangles each -- wherever possible.)

As for a ship example, download the Shipwright Pack and open up the Packet Boat or the Yacht in Maya PLE, which is the free version of the same program FLS uses for converting things into the game. You'll need Maya PLE anyway so you can preview your converted model later.
