Same for me . I ve tried Vista,XP and with Workaround and without.

I m playing on the Spanish Server with the probably lowest Population.

I ve played 3 days ago for the first time and since then I ve had really bad Lag (All Servers) especially when Boarding. Sometimes it is playable (at least skills work but Crew jumping around the deck) and other times it is totaly unplayable (skills don t react at all when boarding). Due to this Problem I ve lost several ships which is very annoying of course.

Sea battles and Land Swashbuckling usually runs very smooth though.

My net/lag is at 200ms in "ship mode" (Battle or OS) and 280-400ms in towns and Boarding.

The ping latency doesn t seem to be the problem because when it s playable the ping is about the same as when it s not playable at all.

Anyhow I really enjoy the Game and I m still confident that the Devs get this right soon.

I won t be boarding ships and/or PVP for now though .

Actually, what you guys should be asking me about is Australia. I'm using the release there as a test to see what we think server pop numbers should be. The balance issues have made me question whether our initial estimates were incorrect.

Easier to code, but there are enough design ramifications that the game would break without a lot of rethinking about how some of the core systems work.

In a game where we intertwine the systems as much as we do, there's an extra level of overhead that's required to avoid unintended changes.

We have ebbs and tides for concurrency, but of course, this is the biggest tide (or ebb, i can't ever keep them straight) that we'll have. We get numbers of people who have cancelled their account, or have billing trouble, and that number hasn't been changing to much from when it spiked at the end of the month.

Plus, no matter how many we're swimming in, more is always better, so of course we'll continue to make improvements as we go.

Make sure potbs.exe is not running in the task manager first. It would not hurt to reboot your computer first before patching.

Attach a POTBSPatch.log to this thread. You can find out where to get them in this post: http://www.burningsea.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9456

I approve. Of course, this doesn't mean they're approved in-game (in case anyone is curious ) even if it would be AWESOME.

And I second the notion about cooked bacon.

Just to say the obvious:

1) We do listen to players. The fact that we don't agree with every person's opinion doesn't mean that we're not listening to it. But we try to listen to people and react. Really. We're not adverse to making people happy. :-)

2) Reacting takes some time. We're not throwing out releases willy nilly based on the comment du jour. In point of fact, we have weekly meetings where we cover comments on the forums and look at metrics on how people are playing, and discuss how we can address those issues.

3) Every game has subscribers that don't resubscribe, especially something that's as new and different as we are. That's part of running an MMO. Nothing about the numbers so far has surprised us.

4) How are we doing? Well, we just hired a new dev, we're looking at bigger office space downtown, and I had a big lunch today. So, not too bad.

To address the "obvious copout", we ban goldspam accounts on a regular basis. Lots of them. So I'm not sure why you would state that we aren't. Plus, we write tools (which we don't talk about) to reduce spam as well. In fact, we do quite a bit of work on removing gold spamming.

Hello all,

We do encourage people to discuss and even debate almost whatever they wish. As long as people do not break the PotBS Community Rules, you can discuss your thoughts on the game.

However, if you do want to respond to a post where folks have expressed frustration or dissatisfaction, you should also be following the PotBS Community Rules.

Specifically, these rules:

- Do not abuse new users
Remember that new users will not always know where to find information that may be common knowledge to the seasoned forum user.

-No Flaming
While debate and discussion are encouraged, we will not tolerate rude or insulting posts, personal attacks or inflammatory posts of any kind.

-Respecting our Global Community

Players are encouraged to participate and contribute to the conflicts between nations as it occurs in the context of Pirates of the Burning Sea game play. That is to say, posts that are made to deride, cajole or taunt enemy nations can be acceptable, so long as it is made clear that the tirade in question is a role-play device, and (this is the important part) is posted in the appropriate forum location.
