We need to have some kind of drag on server transfers, not just for populations and expectaions on the servers, but for our customer support people. Doing a transfer will always require some hand holding because it has to go right.

I would agree. I hadn't really considered the population imbalance for the smaller servers, and I'm still intending on doing spot checking of the server pops versus our reporting tools to get a more accurate picture of what's going on. I think this is a lot of why we have such a disconnect. We're looking at the server pops growing and thinking "good deal!" and you guys are thinking "where are my buddies?"

Stuns provide a significant immunity period, so you cannot be chained. I don't know how long this one is offhand, but it's 100 seconds for Thundering Broadside (which is a morale lock).

Dismantling shot damage has not increased. It's decreasing some in 1.2.

Yes, you'll still be bound under the one nation per server rule.

Even if we can't please you, everybody who pays us money is special. If you start thinking the other way, you go downhill reallllly fast.

Yes, you should be able to find more than 200 people on your nation at the most common playtimes. I was thinking about this while reading Nametry's thread. In that thread, his server is on the low end, but in practice should be reasonable, except there's a population imbalance. That's not a problem on a reasonable pop server, but it's really a problem for low end servers. I'm going to raise it at the design meeting, though off the top of my head I don't really have an answer for it. Keep in mind again that these are the low end numbers of what we want. The servers and play are designed to support significantly more people, and that's what we're shooting for.

As for a server transfer, I honestly didn't realize it was the answer to the issue. I'll push a lot harder tomorrow to get it into 1.3, and will let you guys know how it goes.

It's on the wish list, but it's not a simple addition. That makes it very low priority relative to all the things that are really important.

We can't allow you to have unlimited ships because of teleportation problems. Long-term, we're considering addition a way to store all your ships in a drydock (no-teleport).

Ok, I didn't read the whole thread (which went off in a nice direction, good job guys!) but I see where you're coming from. Server imbalance isn't as big a deal when you've got a reasonable pop server, but it is a problem for the lower end servers (and Bonnie is on the cusp). Part of the solution is time (see my other thread which directed me here) but it's not a great answer in the near term.

I do intend to allow server transfers, and am working to put it into 1.3, though that's not a given at all. You shouldn't play a different nationality on a server that you might want to transfer to, but there are plenty of other reasonable servers that you could go to to try a different nation.

As for the population imbalance at low end servers, I don't have an answer off the top of my head, but I'll take it up with design and see what can be done.
